At Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana, we are deeply committed to serving our community with compassion and expertise. Today, a heartwarming example of this dedication unfolded at our Terraces on Tulane facility.
A 44-year-old gentleman, unable to verbally communicate, wandered to our doors. Through his tattooed name and the photos on his phone, our staff quickly discerned his plight. His mother, recently discharged from the hospital after a heart attack, was unable to retrieve him after he wandered off due to her medical status.
With urgency and care, our team sprang into action. Coordinating with Mobile Crisis, we ensured the man’s safety and facilitated transportation to Touro Hospital for behavioral health.
Michele Scott, our Senior Service Coordinator, stated: “We are equipped with the knowledge and expertise to handle situations like this effectively. There’s never a moment where we’re unsure of how to proceed.” This ethos is at the heart of Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana’s mission: to provide unwavering support and assistance to those in need, no matter the circumstances.
This testimonial underscores the vital role Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana plays in our community. Through our swift response and steadfast dedication, we provide not just services but hope and empowerment to those facing adversity.
Thank you for allowing us to serve and make a difference in the lives of individuals and families across Southeast Louisiana.
